Salary Committee Nears Completion of Work, Proposing Nominal Salary Hikes and Allowance Reductions
The Salary Scale Adjustment Committee has prepared several scenarios to ensure balance in the salary file. The committee indicated that the first phase of its work, involving database establishment, has been 70% completed. The committee's head, Hana Al-Asadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, stated that the committee held multiple meetings and put forth prominent proposals. The most notable is increasing nominal salaries while reducing allowances, to ensure fairness among employees, which will positively impact the value of retirement pensions. Al-Asadi added that another work scenario involves communicating with spending units in all ministries to provide the committee with accurate salary scales. Eighty percent of this file has been settled following the response of all units, including the three presidencies. Al-Asadi explained that these scenarios will be presented to the committee in an upcoming meeting. She emphasized the necessity of completing the functional number project to resolve the issue of dual salaries, and stressed the need to amend certain laws related to university service, military personnel, and others, to ensure balance in the new salary scale.
