Russian Official Criticizes European Energy Policies Amidst Sharp Gas Price Surge
Europe's natural gas prices saw a significant surge on Monday, climbing above $1,000 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since December 22, 2022. This spike occurred as October futures contracts on the TTF index, Europe's largest gas distribution hub, rose by 5% to reach $1,001.8 by 09:55 Moscow time. Commenting on this increase, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the Russian President for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, stated that the sharp rise in gas prices within the European Union is an inevitable consequence of failed European energy policies.
