Report Anticipates Significant Growth and Enhanced Regional Standing for Saudi Space Sector by 2035

The Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission has projected significant growth for the Kingdom's space sector, expecting its value to surge from $8.7 billion in 2024 to $31.6 billion by 2035. These findings were detailed in the "Digital and Space Sustainability 2026" report, released by the Commission this August. It noted that planned investments will be strategically allocated across communication satellite sectors, Earth observation, and various space exploration initiatives. The report emphasized that this anticipated expansion will be directly bolstered by developing the local satellite industry, enhancing ground infrastructure, and providing advanced digital services via satellites. These services are designed to support terrestrial communication networks and improve industrial monitoring systems. Highlighting the Kingdom's achievements, the report noted Saudi Arabia secured the top position in the Information and Communication Technology Development Index, reflecting substantial qualitative progress in digital sustainability during 2025. It also outlined national efforts in the circular digital economy, space sustainability, regulatory capacity building, and fostering international cooperation. These include leveraging AI technologies and satellite Earth observation data as effective tools for environmental and developmental challenges. The report concluded by presenting inspiring national success models in environmental, economic, and social aspects, achieved through the participation of over 25 government and private entities. It affirmed future directions to solidify the sustainability of both digital and space sectors, supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
