Prime Minister Affirms Government's Endeavor to Establish Iraqi-Turkish Fund for Development and Investment Projects

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi confirmed on Thursday that the government is working to establish an Iraqi-Turkish fund aimed at financing investment and development projects in Iraq. This was announced during Al-Zaidi's reception of Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, and his delegation. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and discussing files of mutual interest. The Prime Minister underscored that Iraqi-Turkish relations are rooted in historical, geographical ties, and long-term common interests. He highlighted the broad opportunities for developing cooperation across various sectors. Al-Zaidi stated that the fund's establishment aims to accelerate strategic project implementation and strengthen economic partnership between the two nations. He called on Turkish companies to expand agricultural investments in Iraq, noting the promising opportunities in this field. The government, he added, is committed to implementing programs for livestock development, enhancing agricultural production, and strengthening supply chain integration, alongside creating a suitable environment and providing necessary facilities to boost the agricultural sector and attract quality investments. For his part, the Turkish Minister conveyed greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, expressing pleasure at his visit to Iraq. The Minister affirmed Turkey's significant value for its relations with Iraq, recognizing its pivotal regional role. Bayraktar also highlighted President Erdoğan's interest in the Development Road project, acknowledging its economic and strategic importance for the region. He emphasized Turkey's readiness for broad strategic partnerships with Iraq in various sectors, including oil, gas, electricity, and regional connectivity, to enhance mutual interests and support joint development paths.
