President Pezeshkian Confirms Full Coordination of Washington Talks with Supreme Leader Khamenei
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that all stages of negotiations and the memorandum of understanding with the United States were conducted in full coordination with Supreme Leader Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, adhering to established mechanisms. These remarks came amidst internal pressures and accusations leveled at the negotiation team by conservative and hardline factions. Pezeshkian affirmed Tehran would not yield an iota of its rights, interests, or national principles in talks with Washington under any circumstance. He clarified that the negotiation steps and agreement remained within the purview of the supreme leadership, aiming to counter attempts to sow doubt and disparage the diplomatic team. Earlier, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had approved the MoU designed to resolve the "no war, no peace" situation. Despite his differing viewpoint, he assented based on Pezeshkian's pledge to assume full responsibility as head of the Supreme National Security Council, thereby safeguarding the rights of the Iranian people. The Iranian leadership, represented by both the Leader and the President, concurred that any future direct negotiations do not entail accepting excessive American conditions or impositions.
