Parliament Speaker: Iraq's Fuel Scarcity Unacceptable
Speaker of Parliament Hebat Al-Halbousi announced on Sunday his complete rejection of the scarcity of oil products in the country, emphasizing that this situation is entirely unacceptable, especially since Iraq is an oil-rich nation. His remarks came during a parliamentary session dedicated to discussing the repercussions of the fuel crisis, which has led to a significant shortage in available gasoline quantities. Al-Halbousi pointed to the formation of long queues of cars at petrol stations across various governorates due to this deficit. He stressed the necessity of reviewing the plans of the Ministry of Oil and refinery companies to address the current crisis, in addition to their future vision for developing the oil sector to meet citizens' needs. It was mentioned that local refineries receive 1.1 million barrels of crude oil daily for refining and providing derivatives for domestic consumption.
