Official: Parliament Decides to Extend Its Legislative Term for 30 Days to Finalize Pending Laws

 The Iraqi Council of Representatives, in its regular session held today, Thursday, April 23, 2026, chaired by Hebat Al-Halbousi, decided to extend its current legislative term for an additional 30 days. This decision aims to provide parliamentary committees and political blocs with the necessary time to complete discussions and enact a package of vital laws, primarily the formation of the new government and budget and energy legislation, ensuring no legislative vacuum occurs amidst the current challenges facing the country and the region.
