Ministry of Oil Reassures: Associated Gas Production Meets Local Consumption Despite Crude Drop Due to Hormuz Closure
Oil Ministry spokesperson Sahib Bazoon confirmed today, Thursday, April 23, 2026, that the decline in associated gas production has not reached a real crisis stage, noting that the daily production of 5,000 tons fully covers local demand along with strategic reserves. Bazoon explained that the drop in oil production from 4.5 million to 1.4 million barrels per day due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has relatively affected gas quantities, but the ministry remains in control. He emphasized that supplies to residential complexes and central systems continue without interruption.
