Ministry of Electricity Reveals 2027 Plan for New Power Generation Stations

The Ministry of Electricity is currently studying plans to increase the nation's power generation, transmission, and distribution capacity. Projects for new generation stations by 2027 are included in the ministry's plan, aiming to develop networks, especially in the Middle Euphrates governorates. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Ahmed Turki Jiad clarified the ministry is exploring mechanisms to boost power generation, transmission, and distribution capacity across the capital and all governorates. This aims to meet citizens' electricity demands, especially during the current season. Jiad confirmed capacity expansion through interconnection projects with neighboring countries and scaling up current solar energy projects. This involves coordination with the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Finance, with a work program for this expansion to be discussed by the Council of Ministers later. He further disclosed a dedicated 2027 plan with projects to address bottlenecks and manage loads in transmission and distribution networks. These initiatives target improving operational efficiency in the Middle Euphrates governorates, positively impacting all nationwide. Jiad noted the ministry, under the 2027 plan, aims to integrate new generation stations, with a specific provision, to strengthen network reliability and stability, ultimately improving and extending operating hours for citizens.
