Ministry of Commerce Announces Arrival of Vessel Loaded with Rice for Food Basket

The Ministry of Commerce announced today the arrival of the vessel Equinox Star at the port of Aqaba, carrying about 44,000 tons of American rice designated for food basket items. The General Manager of the General Company for Foodstuffs Trading, Lama Hashim Al-Moussawi, stated in a statement that the arrival of the shipment comes in implementation of the directives of Minister of Commerce Mustafa Nizar Al-Ani, and as part of the company's continuous efforts to secure foodstuffs and enhance inventory. Al-Moussawi added that the shipment contributes to ensuring the smooth supply of food basket items to citizens, according to approved plans. She pointed out that the quality control teams in the company initiated procedures for withdrawing samples and conducting necessary laboratory tests to verify that the rice complies with approved quality specifications and to ensure its safety and quality, in preparation for completing the formal procedures for unloading and supply.
