Ministry of Agriculture Releases 155 Million Fish, Marks 65% Increase

The Ministry of Agriculture announced on Friday the release of 155 million fish as part of a plan to support and develop national fish wealth, achieving a 65 percent increase compared to last year. Qusay Al-Hatab, the Ministry's official spokesperson, stated that its Animal Resources Department completed 100 percent of fish release targets. He highlighted the distribution of 155 million fish into water bodies, rivers, and drainage channels. Al-Hatab explained these releases were conducted in designated areas following an organized plan, aiming to enhance fish stocks and develop this vital sector. He detailed that total fish releases last year amounted to 95 million, including fingerlings, fry, and newly hatched specimens. This figure significantly rose to 155 million this year. Al-Hatab affirmed this 65 percent increase as a crucial project for developing fish wealth and boosting local production.
