Kuwaiti decrees revoke citizenship from hundreds
The Official Gazette of Kuwait published six official decrees stipulating the revocation of Kuwaiti citizenship from hundreds of individuals, along with all those who acquired it through dependency, in accordance with the provisions of the nationality law in force in the country. The first decree specified procedures for withdrawing the citizenship certificate from six persons and their dependents, based on the relevant article of the Amiri Decree issued in nineteen fifty-nine and its subsequent amendments. The second decree included stripping two hundred and eighty-six individuals of their citizenship along with their dependents, while the third decree stipulated its withdrawal from fourteen individuals. The subsequent decree resulted in revoking the legal status from twenty-five persons and their dependents, whereas the fifth decree targeted forty-one individuals and those who acquired it through dependency. The decrees concluded with a decision to withdraw citizenship from forty-three persons and their dependents. The High Committee tasked with investigating Kuwaiti citizenship continues its comprehensive auditing and review of all holders, to submit recommendations to official authorities to issue necessary decrees upon detecting any legal or constitutional violations.
