Kurdish Delegation Visits Baghdad on Customs
A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is expected in Baghdad on Wednesday to sign a joint agreement regarding the implementation of the "ASYCUDA" customs system. The agreement will then be submitted to the Iraqi Ministerial Council for Economy for ratification. Sami Jalal, Legal Advisor to the KRG Ministry of Interior, stated that the anticipated visit focuses solely on the ASYCUDA system file. This step follows an understanding reached between Baghdad and Erbil delegations on September 2nd, which established a joint committee to coordinate the system's application within the Region. ASYCUDA is an automated electronic system for managing trade and customs, designed to facilitate the exchange and matching of commercial data between relevant institutions and departments. As per the current agreements, it will be implemented in the Kurdistan Region with specific parameters, managed by a specialized KRG team.
