Judiciary Seizes Multi-Billion Dinar Properties and Factories in Adnan Al-Jumaili Corruption Case

The Supreme Judicial Council announced Monday the seizure of properties and industrial facilities valued at approximately 69 billion Iraqi dinars, stemming from investigations into the case of Adnan Al-Jumaili, Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs. The Nineveh Investigation Court, specialized in integrity cases, reported judicial decisions authorizing the seizure of nine commercial properties and three flour mills in Mosul, collectively valued around 69 billion dinars. Additionally, seven modern transport trucks, each worth $200,000, were seized. The case involves the arrested Al-Jumaili and associated parties implicated in money laundering and financial corruption. The court stated that commercial properties in the city center are valued at about 45 billion dinars, with flour mills estimated at 24 billion dinars. It clarified that fugitive defendants registered these assets under workers' names to conceal their illicit origin. Given the productive nature of these assets and their continuous profitability, judicial guardians have been appointed. These guardians will manage and preserve them, ensuring their ongoing operation and the collection of all financial returns. The court affirmed continued legal procedures and the pursuit of fleeing defendants until lawsuits are finally settled, as part of intensive efforts to track suspicious assets, eliminate sources of illicit gains, and protect public funds.
