Iraqi Prime Minister Announces MOU Signings During Upcoming Visit to Turkey

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced on Tuesday his intention to sign several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) during his upcoming visit to Turkey. This came during his reception today of the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, and his accompanying delegation. Al-Zaidi affirmed the deep relations between Iraq and Turkey, underpinned by numerous common interests, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation in economic and investment fields to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples. He indicated that these MOUs would be signed during his forthcoming visit to Ankara, aiming to expand bilateral cooperation across various vital sectors. The meeting also covered the latest developments regarding the strategic Development Road project and its significant economic and developmental importance for Iraq, Turkey, and the entire region. Al-Zaidi directed the establishment of a clear mechanism for the project's funding and implementation, to ensure the commencement of practical steps according to defined timelines, given its strategic role in enhancing economic integration and regional connectivity. For his part, the Turkish Minister of Transport affirmed his country's keen interest in the Development Road project and its desire to implement it due to its great economic significance, noting the alignment of both sides' visions regarding the necessity of commencing the construction of the essential infrastructure for this project.
