Iraqi Parliament Speaker Condemns Iranian Aggressions Violating Arab and Islamic Sovereignty

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Hebat al-Halboosi rejected what he termed "Iranian aggressions" against the sovereignty of Arab and Islamic states. He made the remarks during the eighth conference of Arab Parliament and Councils, held in Cairo, Egypt. Al-Halboosi underscored Iraq's support for Arab efforts in integrated cybersecurity, data protection legislation, digital infrastructure enhancement, and developing national competencies to lead digital transformation and technology innovation, not just consumption. He emphasized that while discussing the digital future, security and political challenges facing the Arab nation cannot be overlooked, particularly ongoing aggressions and violations against Arab states' sovereignty and peoples' security. Iraq, in this context, reaffirmed its condemnation of aggressions by the usurping Zionist entity against Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese territories. It also reiterated opposition to Iranian aggressions infringing Arab and Islamic sovereignty and endangering regional security and stability. Halboosi welcomed the recent US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding. Iraq reiterated several key demands: * Halting all aggressions and violations impacting Arab state sovereignty. * Upholding international law and the UN Charter. * Advocating peaceful political solutions for regional conflicts. * Establishing an international parliamentary network to bolster Palestinian rights by engaging friendly parliaments, forming a dedicated bloc, and coordinating within international parliamentary unions. * Creating a parliamentary fund for Palestinian institutions, focusing on health and education. * Insulating the region from open military confrontations. * Fostering regional dialogue for security, stability, and mutual interests. * Unifying the Arab stance on common security, economic, and technological challenges. * Founding an Arab observatory for violations against Arab states. * Broadening sovereignty to include digital, cybersecurity, food, energy, and maritime corridor security.
