Iraq Calls for Establishing Joint Islamic Market

Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi stressed on Saturday the importance of unifying Islamic stances and boosting economies, calling for the creation of a common Islamic market. This came during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, in Baghdad, where both sides reviewed mutual cooperation among member states. Al-Zaidi emphasized that Iraq, with Baghdad serving as a key center of decision-making, remains committed to exercising its active Arab and Islamic role. He urged that OIC resolutions be translated into tangible actions rather than mere statements, serving the Islamic nations causes. He also reaffirmed Iraq's support for the organization, underscoring the necessity of establishing a unified platform leading to an Islamic common market, while highlighting strategic integration in energy and transport.
