Iraq Affirms Non-Use of Its Territory for Aggression and Commitment to Maritime Navigation Freedom
Iraq's National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Aboudi, affirmed on Tuesday that Iraq does not permit the use of its territory for aggression against any state, emphasizing the country's full commitment to maritime navigation laws. During his reception of Daniel Kriber, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Iraq, Al-Aboudi and Kriber discussed enhancing joint cooperation in various fields, especially counter-terrorism and the exchange of security and intelligence information, in addition to exploring ways to develop bilateral friendship relations. Al-Aboudi underscored the importance of unified international efforts to effectively combat and eradicate terrorism and extremist ideology. He stated Iraq made significant sacrifices against the terrorist organization ISIS, fighting for the world and the international community, taking bold steps such as receiving terrorist prisoners. He reaffirmed Iraq's constitutional adherence prohibiting territory use for attacks on any state, alongside strict commitment to international laws on maritime navigation freedom and global trade. Al-Aboudi further noted the government's support for global openness to attract foreign investments and boost the national economy. Ambassador Kriber, for his part, stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and joint efforts in counter-terrorism and information exchange. He highlighted Iraq's pivotal role in regional balance, commending its efforts to de-escalate tensions and foster stability and peace in the region.
