Iranian President Details Strategies to Avert "Strategic Defeat" and Bolster National Cohesion Amidst Challenges
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the nation's current situation requires heightened vigilance and national cohesion, stressing the critical need for full preparedness to confront any potential future scenario. During a meeting in the holy city of Qom, President Pezeshkian reviewed recent national developments and wartime conditions. He detailed the various measures taken by different state institutions during that period, stating: "The enemies of the Iranian people committed widespread and unprecedented crimes in this war, leading to the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader, a number of commanders, officials, innocent citizens, and even schoolchildren. In contrast, the Iranian armed forces — including the Revolutionary Guard, the Army, the Basij forces, and the Police Command — demonstrated an honorable and glorious record of sacrifice, authority, and exemplary readiness." Pezeshkian expressed profound appreciation for the support of the Iranian people and their conscious presence on the ground, adding: "Social capital and national cohesion were the most significant factors that prevented the enemy from achieving its strategic goals. Through the design of a comprehensive, multi-level war, the enemy sought to weaken the pillars of the system and create conditions of internal instability. Yet, the intelligent and continuous presence of the people on the scene thwarted all their calculations and scenarios." Discussing the government's actions in managing wartime conditions, President Pezeshkian explained: "The government, in close cooperation with the armed forces and the people, strove to minimize the repercussions of the war on the citizens through the full mobilization of all the state's executive, administrative, and service capabilities." Pezeshkian highlighted that "one of the enemy's primary strategies was to disrupt supply chains, exert economic pressure, and fuel public discontent, with the aim of creating critical conditions within the country. Nevertheless, through divine grace, public vigilance, and the efforts of executive bodies, this conspiracy was successfully thwarted, and services continued to reach the people without interruption." The President also addressed the political and diplomatic developments that led to the cessation of hostilities, emphasizing the pivotal strategic and guiding role of the Supreme Leader in managing this critical period. He stated: "Thanks to the wise directives of the leadership and the responsibilities entrusted to the government within this framework, numerous achievements were made in various fields, including the establishment of relative peace and stability in Lebanon, as well as some economic openness." Referring to the efforts by some parties to create tension and instability in the region, particularly in the Gulf, Pezeshkian affirmed: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently supported stability, security, and constructive dialogue. We hope that all parties will adhere to the understandings and agreements reached to lay the foundation for strengthening lasting security and peace in the region." Pezeshkian clarified that the purpose of his visit to Qom was to meet with senior clerics, scholars, and religious seminary students to converse with them and benefit from their insights. He stated: "The government constantly finds itself in need of benefiting from the opinions, guidance, and observations of esteemed clerics and scholars." Pezeshkian concluded his remarks by emphasizing that "efforts were made to manage the country's affairs with the fewest possible challenges and disturbances. However, the upcoming phase still requires vigilance, preparedness, and complete national unity, and we must be fully ready to confront any potential scenario."
