Iranian Parliament Speaker Reaffirms Non-Recognition of Israel

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed on Sunday that Tehran will not recognize Israel. This came during his reception of Hamas leadership council head, Mohammed Darwish, where Ghalibaf clarified that the liberation of Jerusalem represents vengeance for the blood of the martyred Imam, and that Iran supports Muslims and the resistance front, in adherence to the directives of the Supreme Leader. He emphasized that this support might take the form of missiles when necessary, or the exertion of political pressure through negotiations. Regarding negotiations with the United States, Ghalibaf affirmed that "there is no peace between us and Washington, and we will not recognize Israel." He pointed to the importance of the diplomatic path contributing to solidifying and enhancing achievements on the ground, considering that implementing understandings with the United States is possible despite its difficulty. He added that Tehran informed Washington of the necessity for any understanding to include the preservation of the territorial integrity of the region's countries and an end to the war with their allies.
