Iran Summons French Ambassador in Tehran
Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday the summoning of the French ambassador to Tehran. This action protests what the ministry described as "interference in Iran's internal affairs" by French diplomats, who were briefly detained this month. A ministry spokesperson confirmed the French ambassador was called to the foreign ministry, where it was stressed that the French government must cease these practices and interventions under deceptive pretexts. The spokesperson further stated that the diplomats interfered in Iran's internal matters under the guise of engaging with civil society, affirming their activities are wholly unjustifiable under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
