Iran Calls on International Atomic Energy Agency to Condemn Nuclear Site Strikes

Iran on Monday called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to condemn what it described as shelling that targeted a nuclear power plant under construction in the country's southwest on Sunday. Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a press conference in Tehran that "Iran expects the IAEA Board of Governors and the Agency's Director General, Rafael Grossi, who regularly take stances on Iran's nuclear file, to clearly express their position on this matter and condemn the crime committed by the United States." Concurrently, official Iranian media reports on Monday indicated that the Gulf-side city of Bushehr, home to the country's only civilian nuclear power plant, was subjected to American shelling that struck several locations. The official Iranian news agency (IRNA) quoted Bushehr Governor Mohammad Mozaffari as saying: "Minutes ago, American enemy projectiles struck several sites in the city of Bushehr." Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that it had successfully completed its ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iran.
