Indian Oil Minister Discusses with Iran Opportunities to Enhance Energy Cooperation
India's Oil Minister, Hardeep Puri, held discussions on Thursday with his Iranian counterpart, Mohsen Pak Nejad. The talks focused on opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector. The meeting took place in New Delhi. Puri stated, in a post on the "X" platform, that India remains committed to enhancing energy security through dialogue, partnership, and mutually beneficial cooperation. This comes after Iran and the United States signed a temporary agreement last week, under which Washington permitted Tehran to temporarily export petroleum products, according to Reuters. India has long been a significant importer of Iranian crude oil but suspended its imports in 2019 after the United States reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil exports.
