Government Moves to Increase Disabled Companion's Salary Retroactively from September

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has revealed a government initiative to increase the financial allocation designated for beneficiaries of the disabled companion's salary. This anticipated increase will be calculated retroactively starting from next September, subject to the completion of formal procedures and obtaining the necessary official approvals. Dhikra Abdul Rahim, Head of the Commission for the Care of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs at the Ministry, clarified that this initiative aims to improve the financial support provided to families caring for individuals with disabilities and special needs. She indicated that the proposed allocation would raise the monthly salary from 170,000 Iraqi Dinars to 250,000 Iraqi Dinars. Abdul Rahim further explained that the increase would be implemented once officially approved and would be calculated retroactively from next September until the month of its actual adoption and disbursement. Beneficiaries would then be eligible to receive the financial differences accrued over this prior period. She added that the calculation of these differences would cover the months extending from the effective date of the retroactive increase until the start of salary disbursement under the new allocation. This signifies the settlement of financial dues for beneficiaries for the period preceding the actual implementation of the increase, provided that the final decision of approval is issued. Abdul Rahim noted that the matter remains contingent upon the completion of governmental and financial procedures and the acquisition of official approvals, particularly from the Ministry of Finance. She affirmed that the Commission is closely monitoring this file with relevant authorities to fulfill all necessary requirements for proceeding with the process of increasing allocations. She concluded by stating that the final value of the financial differences, their disbursement date, and the mechanism for their calculation will be determined and officially announced after the final decision is issued and the increase is adopted within the approved financial and administrative frameworks. She urged beneficiaries to rely solely on information issued by the Ministry and the Commission regarding this matter.
