Government commits to exchange rate control and currency speculation prevention

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi stressed during an expanded meeting held on Monday at the Nineveh Governorate diwan the government's commitment to implementing financial and administrative reform programs. The meeting was attended by a number of the governorate's deputies, the governor, the chairman and members of the provincial council, and local government and service department officials. Al-Zaidi confirmed the government's dedication to controlling foreign currency exchange rates, halting the economic drain caused by price differentials, and preventing speculations through which speculators achieve illicit profits at the expense of the local economic cycle. He pointed out that the government continues to implement its development plans for all governorates, affirming that Nineveh deserves doubled efforts to elevate its service and living conditions while keeping doors open to monitor any shortcomings and achieve a future worthy of its history and civilizational heritage. He also renewed his emphasis on decisively confronting any cases of corruption, protecting public funds, and countering attempts to undermine the national identity through stirring division among components. In a related context, Al-Zaidi addressed the million-farm project plan, explaining that it will rely on agricultural allocations suited to the characteristics of each governorate, such as making Basra the capital of palm trees and Najaf the capital of rice production, alongside establishing food factories dependent on local agricultural output to provide job opportunities, enhance food security, and increase local production.
