Government Announces New Dollar Shipment for Iraq Following US Understandings
Government Spokesperson Haider Al-Aboudi announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi has concluded understandings with the United States to ensure the continued flow of cash dollar shipments to Iraq. Al-Aboudi confirmed that among the outcomes of these understandings is the arrival of a new cash dollar shipment in the country during the coming days, aimed at meeting the legitimate needs for foreign currency. Al-Aboudi indicated that these understandings were reached following the Prime Minister's visit to the United States. They come in light of the tangible progress Iraq has made in strengthening its oversight system for dollar distribution and regulating its uses. The efforts also include curbing the misuse of foreign currency, in addition to expanding electronic payment methods and advancing the gradual transition towards a digital economy.
