Funeral Procession for Late Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei Commences in Tehran
The funeral procession for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and three of his family members commenced today, Monday, in Tehran. State media reported the ceremonies began moments ago in the capital, drawing immense crowds of mourners. Khamenei's flag-draped coffin, along with those of his family members assassinated on February 28 in an airstrike during the initial phase of war with Israel and the United States, is being transported on a truck. The procession will move through Tehran's streets towards Mehrabad International Airport. Authorities expect millions to participate in these city-wide ceremonies, intended to showcase popular support for the government. These observances follow three days of official and public events at Tehran's Grand Musalla, which attracted vast numbers day and night for final respects to Khamenei and four family members killed in the February 28 strikes. Scheduled for 10 to 12 hours, the procession will traverse major roads and squares, including Enghelab (Revolution) Street and Azadi (Freedom) Square, as announced by organizers.
