Economic Observatory Reveals Electronic Payment Transactions Volume in Iraq Over Seven Months

The Eco Iraq Observatory announced that the volume of electronic payment transactions in Iraq exceeded 25 trillion Iraqi dinars from the beginning of this year until the end of July. The observatory stated in a report that financial operations indicators for 2025 recorded 32.8 trillion dinars through 14.6 million transactions, with 20 trillion dinars representing tax and bill collections. It added that the volume of electronic payment transactions reached 25.4 trillion dinars through more than 10.8 million electronic payment movements. It pointed out the existence of 37.6 million electronic payment cards, 197,000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals, 3,015 automated teller machines (ATMs), and 15,000 cash withdrawal points (POCs). Furthermore, the electronic payment sector in Iraq includes 18 electronic payment companies, among them 5 electronic wallets. The observatory considered the growth of electronic payments a positive step toward a digital economy, reducing cash dealings, and enhancing transparency and financial inclusion in Iraq.
