Dawa Party Backs PM on Weapon Restriction, Asserts No Clash or Danger Among "Sons of the Same Trench"

The Islamic Dawa Party affirmed that the process of restricting arms is not a battle between two parties, stressing that there is no fear, danger, or clash among the sons of the same trench. In a statement, the party said that "the political process and its continuation, represented by the new political system, the constitution, successive governments, and institutions, and the exercise of citizens' free will through elections and the peaceful transfer of power, which emerged after 2003, is the fruit of the sacrifices of our zealous people and the courageous stances of its sons, whether in confronting the hateful Ba'athist dictatorship or in countering the terrorism of Al-Qaeda and ISIS and their local fronts." It added: "Today, all loyalists in this country bear the responsibility of preserving this democratic process, pluralism, and broad freedom, and not compromising it, as its alternative is dictatorship, chaos, and division." The party further stated that "Prime Minister, Ali Al-Zaidi, is keen on this political process, its continuity, and its progress, and consults with the Coordination Framework that nominated him for this grave responsibility. Al-Zaidi enjoys the support of the benevolent national forces in the State Administration Coalition, and he should be stood with and supported to overcome this difficult economic, security, and political stage, internally and externally." It continued by saying that "the process of restricting arms is a demand on which no two disagree, but the circumstances surrounding the country internally and externally necessitate that this process be completed through dialogue and understanding among all concerned parties, and exclusively according to our people's national agendas, and on the basis of the supreme interest and the requirements of its security and stability." It affirmed: "This is not a battle between two parties, as it is, unfortunately, being politically and media-marketed, intentionally or unintentionally. The challenges of the stage and its difficult circumstances compel everyone to cooperate in order to achieve this goal, as the carrying and use of these weapons by the Mujahideen brothers was never but for the defense of the people and the homeland, and was never used except against the enemies who were lying in wait for Iraq." It indicated that "the Secretary-General of our party, benefiting from his relations with all concerned parties, is playing his role to achieve consensus on a safe and reassuring path for this process, and that holding a supporting national conference in this regard may be necessary, and its outcomes beneficial." The party added: "We are confident that everyone appreciates the criticality of the stage, and will act out of their legitimate and national responsibilities and the preservation of security and civil peace, thereby reassuring our people that matters have not and will not get out of the control of the wise and prudent in this country. There is no fear, no danger, and no clash among the sons of the same trench, and our national duty is to honor the Mujahideen and highly appreciate their sacrifices for the sake of the homeland and the unity of its territories, and to benefit from their energies and experiences in the appropriate state institutions."
