Central Bank urges importers to follow up pending bank transfers early
The Central Bank of Iraq issued an official call on Saturday urging all traders and importers to review their accredited banks in order to finalize financial transfers due prior to October 7, 2026. An institutional statement clarified that it continues to monitor banking activities conducted before and after the exchange rate adjustment, ensuring that financial institutions adhere to current regulations to protect clients' interests. The statement stressed the importance for companies and business owners whose trade-finetung transfers were due before the aforementioned date to visit their banks and ensure execution, especially since the bank had previously funded these banks' accounts to cover those transfers. The statement noted tracking any potential delays and ensuring traders are not charged extra amounts for exchange differences on transfers purchased and covered at the previous rate, expressing readiness to receive complaints via the dedicated platform or email in case of delays or requests for additional funds. In the same context, the bank revealed ongoing efforts in cooperation with banking institutions and payment companies to launch specific payment cards for foreign trade targeting small merchants to facilitate imports according to regulatory frameworks.
