British PM: US-Iran Agreement a "Vitally Important Achievement"
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer affirmed that the agreement between the United States and Iran, which outlines a framework for ending the war, is of vital importance. Starmer clarified that he discussed this agreement with US President Donald Trump on Saturday. During a press conference, Starmer stated: "Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but I believe it is a significant achievement, indeed a vitally important one. We hope, through working together, to be able to turn it into the lasting peace we all seek to achieve." This comes in the context of an earlier call from British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper for Iran and Israel to exercise restraint and "immediately de-escalate," following Iranian missile attacks targeting Israel in response to previous strikes on Beirut's southern suburb. Minister Cooper emphasized, via a post on her "X" platform, that "a resumption of conflict between Iran and Israel is in no one's interest," stressing the necessity of continuing negotiations to reach a lasting settlement that ensures peace and stability in the region, and the full restoration of global trade.
