British Maritime Warning: Security Threat in Strait of Hormuz Remains "Severe"
A British maritime authority announced on Sunday that the level of maritime security threat in the Strait of Hormuz remains "severe," urging vessels to exercise extreme caution and adhere to established safety procedures during passage. The authority stated in a post on X that the southern route for vessels crossing the strait remains available, despite Iran's announcement on July 12 of its closure, confirming that the route has been widened to accommodate two-way navigation. It also warned that vessels might receive radio calls from naval forces and urged mariners to pay particular attention to the mine hazard area within the traditional traffic separation scheme.
