British Maritime Authority Warns: Security Threat in Strait of Hormuz Remains Elevated

A British maritime authority has confirmed that the level of security threat in the Strait of Hormuz remains high, urging mariners to exercise extreme caution and stay aware of mine danger areas while transiting the waterway. The authority added that the southbound channel in the Strait has been widened and remains available for navigation. Simultaneously, it stressed that any additional routes outside this passage do not enjoy protection, necessitating extreme vigilance when sailing in the area. These warnings come after a near-complete halt in tanker traffic through the Strait yesterday, as shipowners are evaluating the risks arising from recent strikes. These strikes began following the targeting of a Qatari liquefied natural gas vessel that was departing the waterway near Oman.
