Borrowing to Cover Majority of 2027 Budget Deficit According to Official Data

An economic expert revealed that internal and external borrowing will cover approximately 88% of the estimated 43 trillion dinars budget deficit for the year 2027, with loans and various financing sources expected to reach about 38 trillion dinars. Data indicate that total external borrowing will amount to 16.156 trillion dinars, including 8.421 trillion dinars in new loans and 7.735 trillion dinars in ongoing loans. Internal borrowing is projected to reach 21.734 trillion dinars, distributed among 14.743 trillion dinars from treasury bill issuances, 5 trillion dinars from bonds, and 2 trillion dinars from government bank loans. Thus, total internal and external borrowing sums up to 37.89 trillion dinars, equivalent to about 88% of the estimated deficit gap, highlighting a significant reliance on borrowing to cover the majority of the financial shortfall in the upcoming budget.
