Baghaei to US Treasury Secretary: Iran's History Deeper Than Childhood Perceptions, Resistance Endures

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, affirmed the Iranian people's enduring resistance to pressures, in a sharp rebuttal to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's recent comments on Iran. Baghaei stressed his nation's history and civilization far surpass simple childhood memories and backyard perceptions. On "X," coinciding with the September 3rd anniversary of Rais Ali Delvari's "martyrdom" and the National Day of Resistance against British Colonialism, Baghaei hailed Delvari as a paramount symbol of anti-colonial struggle. He noted that over a century ago, Delvari confronted the British army in Iran's southern coastal regions; despite his death, the resistance and resolve only intensified. Directly addressing Bessent, Baghaei stated: "Today, it's appropriate to remind Scott Bessent of this: seeking to explain his view of Iran, he cited childhood memories of a South Carolina backyard, where he killed venomous snakes with a sword and shovel." Baghaei argued that "Bessent's issue stems from confusing Iran's profound history, civilization, and rich culture with the confined area of his childhood home's backyard." He further added that a century ago, Britain aggressively attacked Bushehr and Tangestan, killing Delvari, "yet the resistance ultimately grew even more powerful."
