Agricultural lands flooded near Al-Bukamal due to Euphrates water level rise

Euphrates River water has submerged wide areas of agricultural land surrounding the bridge connecting the villages of Abu Al-Hasan and Al-Ramadi in the Al-Bukamal countryside, east of Deir Ezzor, Syria, as shown by aerial footage. The rise in water levels coincided with an increase in the volume of water released from the Kadiran Dam to about 1,200 cubic meters per second, following an increase in incoming water supplies from the Turkish side, as part of measures aimed at boosting the available storage capacity at the Euphrates Dam in preparation for expected flows during the winter season. The Directorate of Water Resources in Deir Ezzor stated that the increased release led to a rise in the Euphrates level by about 40 centimeters, causing additional areas to be flooded, particularly in the plain regions of the province. These developments come after previous waves of high water levels in the river witnessed throughout the current year, prompting relevant authorities to take precautionary measures to protect facilities, water stations, and areas close to the riverbed.
